Comment choisir un livre ?
Une fois en librairie, le lecteur a le difficile choix à faire entre les dizaines ou centaines d’ouvrages présentés sur les tables et dans les rayons. Comment choisir ?
Choisir un livre est un acte important car il nous entraîne vers des heures intimes passées avec des personnages, une histoire et leur auteur. Si l’alchimie opère, nous serons inséparables de ces pages qui nous apportent distraction, mais aussi émotion ou rire, aussi faut-il bien se décider.
Le premier de nos rapports avec un ouvrage est la vision de sa couverture. Celle-ci doit donc être attrayante, visible de loin et se détacher des autres livres concurrents. Pour cela, les couleurs fortes sont souvent mises en scène. Mais, une fois que nous nous sommes approchés, d’autres points entrent en jeu : le visuel utilisé bien entendu, l’entremêlement professionnel des divers éléments de l’ensemble et, surtout, la 4ème de couverture car si nous avonbs été attirés de loin, encore faut-il que le résumé fourni confirme l’intérêt que nous avons déjà commencé à porter au livre.
Ce résumé doit être concis mais complet, il doit nous apporter de nombreuses informations sans nous dévoiler l’histoire contenue dans l’ouvrage. Un bon résumé n’est pas un synopsis qui nous en dirait trop et dévoilerait la fin de l’histoire. La couverture d’un livre n’est pas là pour couvrir mais pour nous faire découvrir.
